Off To A World All Their Own.
A wedding should represent the couple, their love, and who they are as individuals. Amanda and Tony's wedding did just that! It was a wedding filled with German traditions, hints of Harry Potter, family heirlooms, and the season of fall.
Amanda and Tony were married on September 11th, 2021 at The Lawton Community Center. Their main color was royal blue and added accents of fall colors, shades of oranges, yellows, and browns. Not just with the colors, the season of fall was there in the wedding, even if Michigan brought 85+ degree weather. Pumpkins lined the aisle that brought Amanda to Tony to say their "I Do's" and leaves decorated their tables. One of my favorite decors of theirs was the Chapter 8 The Wedding image from Harry Potter in a golden frame, with a Harry Potter novel set next to it.
During our timeline consultation, Amanda, her wonderful parents, and I met for coffee. At this time she told me of a surprise addition, a first look before the first look!
Before Amanda and Tony's first look, Tony had a surprise first look, that turned out to be not much of a surprise at all because Tony was on to them. Neil, his best person, dressed in Sufia's, Amandas Person Of Honors, wedding dress, and was the first to tap Tony on his shoulder for the first of the first looks.
When Tony turned around for the real first look, it was priceless. There was pure adoration in his eyes when seeing Amanda in her gorgeous, timeless wedding dress from Memories Bridal for the first time. Amanda truly looked stunning physically, but her beauty shined from within most. I loved that she had her grandmothers with her at all times in spirit and by including her Grandmother Willoughby's bracelet and her Grandmother VanValkenburgh's handkerchief. Both were incredibly lovely, we most definitely made a photo about those beauties.
These two had a large wedding party that cherished the two of them and their families. We actually had two wedding party photos built into the timeline because we knew that we would want to try to capture as much of that love and excitement as possible. The second round of photos is even when the Oktoberfest was tapped. O'zapft!
Amanda and Tony gifted each other their party people with personalized drinking vessels, tumblers for Amanda's side, and beer steins for Tony's crew. Those absolutely had to be incorporated in photos, and the steins most definitely had to be filled with that Oktoberfest!
That second round of photos was the first time I had ever heard the German Chant, "Ziggy, Zaggy, Ziggy, Zaggy, Oy! Oy! Oy!".
That was not the only tradition present at this wedding, they had guests dressed in dirndl and lederhosen, polka dancing, and even a schuhplattler dance performed by Tony and his best person, Neil.
Speaking of dancing, Wiser Productions DJ, Scott The Hurricane, had the dance floor booming!
Before the dance floor was officially opened up, Amanda and Tony had their first dance to The Greatest Showman's Tightrope by Michelle Williams. The Greatest Showman is one of their favorite movies and played a big role in Tony's proposal to Amanda, so it was more than perfect.
The Father-Daughter Dance was to such a sweet song called Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle and the Mother-Son Dance to a version of Roll Out The Barrell.
Afterward is when that schuhplattler dance took place! SUCH a cool experience to see, and while I hadn't ever seen or heard of it before, I'd say Tony and Neil killed it out on the dance floor! I did a little research on it and it's actually super interesting too! Google says that the schuhplattler dance is probably over 1000 years old, and originated as a courtship dance. There's so much history to it, if you have the time, definitely look it up!
After their wedding day, Amanda shared with me that she hadn't realized GLP's main logo was a penny. She shared that for years she's always had a penchant for finding pennies, believing that it was her late Grandmother saying hello and telling her she was on the right track. This story made my heart melt, I knew instantly the first time I talked with Amanda that I liked her, and to think that just maybe it was her Grandmother who brought us together is a blessing. Meeting Amanda and Tony, their families, hearing this story, helping with their special day, all just makes me feel extremely lucky.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us be there to help capture your day. We know that your life will always be an adventure with breathtaking views. ♥
Always rooting for your love, success, and happiness.
