What Is A Micro Wedding?
D E F I N I T I O N
A micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically with no more than 50 guests. They still feature time-honored traditions that make a wedding but on a much smaller scale.

Why have a micro wedding? Maybe you and your partner joked about eloping because that's more your speed, but you both knew that you'd still ultimately miss some of those traditions. Or maybe you're just hoping to create your special day on a smaller, more intimate scale. Having a micro wedding has the benefit of reduced wedding costs. Plus, the smaller scope of the event, particularly in terms of guest count, can also lend itself to greater intimacy and a more meaningful experience with guests.
We are here for the big wedding bashes and we are totally here for the micro, short and sweet events too. The most important thing is planning your day so that it fits your love story best. ♥
The Vine Barn

Whether the wedding is big or small, it’s easier to find a venue first and then tailor the guest list to fit, instead of inviting everyone and then realizing there's not enough space.
For Mariah + Matt's micro wedding, they found the perfect cozy space for their family and friends to come together and celebrate. The Vine Barn is an over 100-year-old barn located in the Vine Neighborhood of Kalamazoo, Michigan. It has enough space for about 15 of your closest people inside, but also offers an open garden space for about 50 people. With it's vintage charm and delightful grounds, it's such a cute little spot for a special event.
Get Dressed Up
Picking a wedding dress and special attire for the occasion is still very much one of the fun parts of micro weddings, like with larger scale weddings.
Mariah's dress was meant for her! After scrolling through David's Bridal selections, this gown was the only one she favorited. A while later, after the DB selections had slipped her mind, she found her way into the store. Trying on the last available dress in this specific style and finding it fit her just right. Then realizing that just so happened to be the very one and only one she favorited. Some things are just meant to be. Mariah paired it with a family heirloom, a unique beveled necklace, which worked perfectly for her something borrowed.
Matt's suit was equally dapper, but my favorite part of the attire was the pin made with an image of Matt's Mom.
Say I Do
Mariah + Matt didn't skip the chance to share words and promises with one another, surrounded by the people they love most. They each had their own custom, wildly adorable vow books, with their personal vows to one another.
For those who couldn't be there in person, they had a live stream set up.
Three Great Things
Three great things all weddings, regardless of size, should have? Great food, good drinks and music!
After their ceremony, first dance and signing their marriage certificate, followed a champagne toast and a charcuterie board filled with delicious snacks.
There was more mingling and a surprise father daughter dance!
Grand Exit
Grand exits are some of my favorite things! They don't always have to be an actual exit, they can simply be a fun activity and photo op for you and your guests. In this case, it was Mariah + Matt's send off to their dinner to follow. The guests still there sent bubbles in the air, with bubble bottles and a handy bubble maker!
Extra GLP Love Note
To be fully honest, this day was such a special unexpected treat for me. Someone who I adore very much, a good friend of mine, is a mutual friend of Mariah's and actually hired me to help document their day as a sort of surprise. I wasn't sure what to fully expect, but even if I had, it would have exceeded all expectations. The day, even though chilly, was filled with so much love and warmth from the couple and their guests. The atmosphere held so much joy, you can feel it in their photos.
I'm incredibly honored to have been able to be there.
Lots of love and light to Mariah + Matt on their lifetime adventure together.
